UK-Dozens of men convicted of child trafficking are sentenced to 346 years in prison, collectively 

Dozens of men who sexually abused young girls in Kirklees were imprisoned for a total of 346 years following a major police investigation.

The conviction took place yesterday (April 26) at the Crown Court in Leeds for the last men convicted in Operation Tourway, a multi-year investigation into the non-recent sexual exploitation of young girls in North Kirklees.
  
Asif Ali (53) of Batley, Mohammed Tausif Hanif (39 years old) of Dewsbury, Ali Shah (38) of Dewsbury, Moshin Nadat (38) years old) of Heckmondwike, Sarfraz Miraf (38) of Dewsbury, Mohammed Nazam Nasser (38) years old) of Batley and Amir Ali Hussain (45 years old) of Batley were all convicted of several crimes.


An eighth man was also the subject of a hospitalization order following a finding of the facts by the court.
 

Their conviction means that 25 men have been convicted so far for their role in rape, sexual abuse and trafficking of eight then-young girls in North Kirklees between 1999 and 2012.
  
One of the convicted men was sentenced to more than 30 years during the trials, most of which were protected by reporting restrictions to ensure that the people involved could be tried fairly.
  
From now on, with the lifting of the restrictions, 24 men brought to justice so far can be appointed and all the details of their sentences revealed.
  
These are:
  
Khurum Raziq (42 years old), from Heckmondwike, sentenced to 22 years in prison after being convicted of eight rape offences.

Nasar Hussain (46) of Dewsbury sentenced to 18 years in prison after being convicted of three rape offences.

Zafar Qayum (44 years old) of Dewsbury sentenced to 30 years in prison for six counts of rape, five counts of modesty attack and three counts of complicity in rape.
  
Ansar Qayum (47) of Dewsbury was sentenced to 20 years in prison for four counts of rape and one offence of attempted indecent assault.
  
Mohammed Jabbar Qayum (43) of Dewsbury was sentenced to 13 years in prison for two rape offences committed against a victim.
  
Mohammed Imran Zada (45 years old) of Batley sentenced to 15 years in prison for four crimes of rape and one offence of sexual activity with a child – 15 years old
  
Michael Birkenshaw (37 years old) of Wakefield was sentenced to eight years in prison for a rape offence.
  
Amran Mehrban (40 years old) of Batley sentenced to 13 years in prison for two offences of rape and one offence of assault by penetration
Sarkaut Yasen (38) of Dewsbury sentenced to 15 years in prison for a traffic offence and three offences of complicity in rape.
  
Mohammed Saleem Nasir (48 years old) of Dewsbury sentenced to 19 years in prison for three crimes of rape and one offence of complicity in rape.
  
Irfan Khan (37 years old) of Batley sentenced to 12 years and five years of extended driver’s license for three crimes of rape and one crime of death threats.
  
Omar Farooq Hussain (39) of Batley was sentenced to 18 years in prison for four offences of rape.
  
Sarfraz Hussain Riaz (40 years old) of Dewsbury was sentenced to 15 years in prison for two offences of rape and one offence of attempted rape.
  
Zafar Iqbal (38) from Batley was sentenced to 17 years in prison for indecency in children, trafficking and three rape offences.
 
Nasar Iqbal (38) from Batley was sentenced to 10 years for a traffic and rape offence
  
Mohammed Chothia (47) of Batley was sentenced to 17 years for four rape offences and one trafficking offence
  
Bilal Patel (42 years old) of Leicester was sentenced to 13 years in prison for a trafficking offence and a rape offence.
 
Asif Ali (53) of Batley was sentenced to 24 years in prison on 14 counts of rape, two offences of inciting or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and trafficking offences for the purpose of sexual exploitation, intentionally encouraging or helping an offender and of helping, encouraging or procuring rape.
  
Mohammed Tauseef Hanif (39) of Dewsbury was imprisoned for nine and a half years for rape.
  
Ali Shah (38) of Dewsbury was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a rape offence.
  
Moshin Nadat (38) of Heckmondwike was sentenced to seven and a half years for a rape offence.
  
Safraz Miraf (49) of Dewsbury was sentenced to four and a half years for attempted rape.
  
Mohammed Nazam Nasser (38) of Batley was sentenced to seven and a half years for rape.
  
Amir Ali Hussain (45 years old) of Batley was sentenced to eight years in prison for rape.
  
Detectives dedicated to protection began investigating non-recent reports about some of the men dating from 2015, and other suspects were discovered as the investigation progressed.
  
Arrests took place from November 2018 throughout the West Yorkshire region.
All suspects were indicted in December 2020 and legal proceedings began on December 11.
  
The above men were convicted in five trials heard at the Crown Court in Leeds between 2022 and 2024.
  
DCI Oliver Coates of the Kirklees Police said: “The conviction and determination of the sentence. The arrival of these last eight men represents an important step for the victims in this case.
“Their courage to manifest themselves and identify their aggressors has allowed us to take action against men whose offences and behavior can only be described as odious to the extreme.
“Now that the reporting restrictions have been lifted, we can, for the first time, disclose all the details of all the people convicted so far in what has been a long trial process.”
 
He added: “In the last two years, the juries have heard details about absolutely shocking offences committed against victims in these cases.
“Some of these men were sentenced to more than 20 years each for the multiple offences they committed and the incredibly cruel and degrading way in which they treated these young girls
“, men like Asif Ali. alone was convicted of 14 rape offences, committed appalling sexual abuse on a barely believable scale and considered her young victims as defenseless goods that can be abused and exchanged as they wish
. adults, they retaliated and forced them to answer for their crimes.
“They showed real courage and great determination by testifying in trials that were long-lasting and by supporting our investigations.
“I hope they can find some satisfaction knowing that they have allowed the police and their partners to mount a huge and very difficult investigation that has removed sexual predators from our streets for years to come. »
