Rotherham Grooming Gang Member Released from Prison Having Served Half of his 10-Year Sentence

It is puzzling how convicted criminals never serve their full sentence. Why is a full sentence given in the first place?

United Kingdom – A member of a gang of pedophiles in Rotherham was photographed for the first time, while enjoying his freedom found just a few kilometers from the site of his repugnant crimes.

The presence of Qurban Ali, 59, on the streets northeast of Sheffield scandalized one of the victims of the paedophile network of which he was a member.

The former boss of a taxi company was seen walking just eight kilometers from his old lairs in Rotherham.

Last month, MailOnline exclusively revealed how Ali became the first major member of the pedophile gang to be released early last year after serving half of his ten-year prison sentence.

Sammy Woodhouse, 37, who was sexually abused by Ali’s nephew, Arshid Hussain, said she was disgusted that he was allowed to return to South Yorkshire.

Speaking to MailOnline, she courageously renounced her right to anonymity and said: “It is a shame that he has served only half of his sentence and that he is now back on the streets.”

“None of the people convicted in the sexual exploitation gang scandal should be allowed to live in South Yorkshire. It’s way too close. Some of us live and work in Rotherham and Sheffield.”

Ali was imprisoned in February 2016, alongside three of his nephews, after being convicted of gang rape at the Sheffield Crown Court.

His nephew Arshid, who was the leader of the group known as “Mad Ash”, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for 23 serious crimes of sexual exploitation of children between 1987 and 2003.

The Arshid brothers, Basharat and Bannaras, were also sentenced to 25 and 19 years in prison respectively for similar crimes.

Judge Sarah Wright told Ali and his nephews: “The harm you have caused is of unimaginable magnitude”.

An official report published in 2014 revealed that 1,400 women and girls in Rotherham were subjected to sexual exploitation in childhood by multiple gangs between 1997 and 2013, in the largest sexual abuse scandal in the United Kingdom.
